Pine Grove is Puerto Rico's top beginner surf spot, a gentle sandbar break at the eastern end of Isla Verde beach in Carolina, near the Isla Verde Nature Reserve. Mellow enough for first-timers, it's where most San Juan metro surfers learned to ride. Surf schools operate here regularly, and the sandy bottom produces forgiving lefts and rights. Best in winter when N swells provide consistent waves. Lifeguards present during designated hours.
